Minnesota North Shore Engagement Session

Where is this location on the North Shore?

There’s tons of locations to explore for your Minnesota North Shore engagement session. We chose Section 13 for their engagement session for a little extra adventure and to escape the crowds. There’s a parking lot near Finland, Minnesota where the trailhead starts. It’s part of the Superior Hiking Trail that is the most popular hiking trail in Minnesota. The trail is a fairly easy 2.8 mile out-and-back hike that leads to massive boulder formations fixed upon cliffs that overlook the Superior National Forest.

How to Prepare for Your Adventure Shoot

The hike in takes about an hour and sometimes the trail can be muddy. Be sure to bring proper hiking shoes and not just hike in flip flops. You can either hike in your engagement photo clothes or you can pack them with. There’s areas to change clothes in the forests around the cliffs. Be sure to bring a couple outfit options so you can have a nice variety of options. I highly recommend a dramatic dress as one option to help emphasize the beauty of the cliffs.

The Final Pictures

On this day we got blessed with some incredible conditions. As we were hiking in scattered rain showers blew in and out but after checking the weather many times I knew there were high chances for some incredible conditions. The couple trusted my judgement and we decided to go for it. As soon as we arrived and were ready, dramatic stormy clouds filled the skies and rainbows began to appear. We were all so ecstatic with how incredibly rewarded we were for committing to the hike. I captured so many incredible photos of them as they danced under the stormy skies and shared so many incredible moments together. Needless to say they were in awe of their final photos and so thankful that I brought them to this amazing location and trusted my judgement to commit to the location despite the scattered rain.
