Jason and Melissa have an interesting love story. They told me that they were introduced by a mutual friend. With time away from the PBR, Jason was working at a ranch in South Dakota when Melissa was driving to Minnesota from Wyoming for a friend’s wedding. On her way she made a stop to meet Jason for the first time. It was the first introduction you would think and he made her walk into the shed by herself while he was visiting with other friends. It was a very casual first meeting. But shortly after that they begin to build a deep connection with one another and Jason moved out to Meeteetse, Wyoming to pursue his love for Melissa. Fiddleback Ranch is where they decided to tie the knot. Fiddleback Ranch is surrounded by beautiful mountain views in every direction. You can take a short drive and find some incredible locations for your couple’s portraits. On their wedding day, Jason and Melissa decided to do a first touch with one another and read a letter they wrote for each other. They did this at her dad’s barn which holds such a historical Wyoming look!
Stormy skies blew through throughout the entire wedding day. Luckily the rain held off for the most part. With the stormy weather came some of the most dramatic skies that I’ve ever witnessed at a wedding. Jason knew of a great spot for couple’s portraits being he’s been living in the area for awhile. So after the ceremony we took a short drive out to the location he was telling me, about and let me tell you it was nothing short of spectacular. I was able to capture some of the most breathtaking photographs for them with the stormy skies.
During the reception I kept an eye out for the weather to see if we had a chance of going out for a sunset session to end the day. It was a good thing I kept checking because we got absolutely spoiled with some of the most insane lighting and skies. This is a big perk of hiring a photographer that has experience with photographing landscapes and sunsets. I make sure to pay attention at all times throughout the sunset time so if we have to a earlier to capture those fleeting moments we won’t miss them. Shortly after I capture the rainbow photographs it disappeared.
Jason and Melissa’s ranch wedding left me yearning for me! With cowboy roots of my own, I love serving western couple’s on their wedding day. I’m so thankful I met these two incredible people and was able to use my photography to capture such special moments in their lives.
